La Finca de Las Salinas is a splendid 4*Rural
Hotel which abounds in creativity and originality. An old 18th
century mansion which through its history was acquired by Don
Jaime Lleó a licensed Pharmacist, who dedicated his time between
businesses to the exportation of salt throughout the islands and
abroad. Luckily, among his possessions were the Salinas de
Janubio, a place of natural tourist interest and from where the
salt could be collected directly from the edge of the sea.
With its graceful architecture, red ochre and white and a
romantic walkway of exotic trees, the building is decorated with
well preserved antiques and a balanced mixture of designer
furniture. Bedrooms which in their day were stables and sheds
are now rich in detail, and bright colours which help to paint a
perfect picture.
Don Gonzalo Lleó commissioned his good friend the Architect
Ángel García Puertas to carry out the rehabilitation of the
Finca. This was done between 1994 and 1996. At the World Travel
Market in London in 1997 the Hotel won the award of Best Rural
Hotel. Today the Finca de Las Salinas offers its guests all the
comforts expected from a hotel of this category. It is easy to
discover the seductive corners of its rooms and passageways, and
become carried away with the views of seas of lava that surround
them.
A refreshing swim in the pool, a session in the gymnasium, a
game of tennis or a `relax´ in the waters of the “Spa Las
Salinas” with a variety of treatments on offer, these are some
of the options open to the visitor.
The Hotel has two magnificent restaurants “Bodega Dongonzalo”
and “Restaurant Mariateresa” Careful service, attention to
detail, colourful atmosphere and warm ambience create an ideal
setting to enjoy an exquisite selection of dishes prepared under
the gastronomic guidance of the Chef Joaquín Koerper (owner of 5
Michelin Stars).
With his particular mixture of textures and flavours using as a
base excellent products of the region such as vegetables, game
and fresh fish he re invents the classical kitchen converting it
into that something special for which he is well known. His
original desserts, confectionery and selection of infusions are
worth a mention, as is the extensive selection of some of the
finest Spanish wines, and those of Lanzarote including the house
wine which is presented as a gift to clients on their arrival.
